History

Early construction

In the early 1970s, Zero (with Donald Anderson's help) commissioned the construction of TR as part of an advanced AI network that was designed to govern the world's economic, political, legal, social, and cultural information.

A similarly named AI, TR-Cocoon-7000, had previously been created in order to operate the Cocoon unmanned weapon, in the early 1970s.

Guns of the Patriots Incident

In 2014, TR and the other Patriot AIs (TJ, AL, and JD) were unable to realize that the reconstructed GW was pieced together and installed aboard Liquid Ocelot's modified Arsenal Gear unit.

Within the modified unit's inner sanctum, Old Snake and Otacon had uploaded a computer program into the restored GW and was used as a conduit into TR and the other AIs, thus shutting down the Patriots' system entirely.

Behind the scenes

In Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a map displayed during an in-game cutscene implies that TR may have been located in or around Russia or Siberian Asia.
